Hi there. Before you read my review, I have to disclose this to you. I conduct independent reviews on the products on this site. If you click on any of the links and make a purchase, I may get a commission. Cool?
The best thing about used Louis Vuitton handbags is that if you look carefully enough, you might be able to find one that is more affordable and in mint condition than a new purse.
Used designer bags rarely lose their value, particularly if they are well cared for and in excellent condition.
And yet, there are many more perks to getting a used Louis Vuitton handbag. So much so that it’s a bit of a wonder why most luxury bag owners don’t opt for purchasing more pre-owned purses.
Say Bye-Bye to Waiting
Trendy products can experience stock shortages, and any luxury purse collector can attest to grueling wait times.
Weeks, sometimes months of waiting, can go by before a buyer can purchase the latest and greatest handbag of the season.
A significant advantage of going with pre-owned is that you can actually access your favorite designer, especially if a particular item is no longer being produced. There might be a higher chance to find it used.
It’s More Sustainable
Let’s face it, buying used Louis Vuitton handbags or any previously owned designer purse slows down the fast-moving fashion waste cycle. It is a sustainable practice, especially considering that clothing and fashion textiles are being purchased and thrown away at an exponential rate.
As fashion aficionados, we have an individual responsibility to help our planet. By recycling handbags and investing in almost-new purses, we can significantly reduce our waste.
But Buyer’s Beware
Regardless of new or used, you’ll want to be sure that you’re buying an authentic designer handbag and not a gorgeous knock-off.
To do this, first, make sure that you purchase only from reputable sellers with good reviews. Next, ensure that payment methods are safe and check the return and exchange policy.
Most importantly, inspect your purse upon arrival—double-check the hardware, stitch work, logo, pockets, and liner. Are things crooked or poorly made? What does the label look like? Is the stitching aligned?
Louis Vuitton Grained Calfskin Vivienne NM in Black
The Grained Calfskin Vivienne NM is the ‘little black dress’ of purses. True to all Louis Vuitton designs, the stitch work of this handbag is inarguably the very definition of haute couture.
The calfskin leather gives this handbag a sophisticated finish, and the dark color makes it truly versatile. It is the perfect purse for both a day at the office and a night out with friends.
That’s Not All!
This purse is worn as both a shoulder bag and a handbag as the adjustable strap is removable—almost like a fashion accessory wardrobe change.
This completely changes the purse’s look and functionality, and it’s almost like having two different types of bags.
Additionally, the prominent LV logo, the design house’s signature, is made with high-quality hardware and sits nestled on the front flap. The purse opens to a flat pocket and small zippered interior.
There’s no denying the classic appeal of this design.
So, What’s the Word?
It’s 2022, and used designer bags are the way to go if we all want to do our part in reducing environmental harm. Don’t get me wrong. Buying something new is not something to be ashamed of…
But just think of how much better it feels to buy something that looks just about new but is part of sustainable practice. It’s no secret that every woman needs a little black bag.
And the Grained Calfskin Vivienne NM by Louis Vuitton is the way to go for sure. This purse’s timeless style pairs perfectly with any outfit and can be worn at many social events.
So, if you’re looking for that classic black bag, be sure to check out the LOUIS VUITTON Grained Calfskin Vivienne NM in Black.
Did this post help you find some of the best used Louis Vuitton handbags? If you’re not sure what to look for in a pre owned designer handbag, read my post, “Authentic Pre Owned Designer Handbags – How to Avoid Buying a Knock Off.”
I’ve never purchased a new or used designer handbag but that’s purely because I’ve just bought a standard one from the shops although I have always loved handbags so I should teat myself to a descent one.
I do agree that shoppers need to be aware of buying the real thing and not falling for the fake brand as this happens in the perfume world too.
My late mum was always one for buying designer bags and had a huge collection of which I benefited from when she passed away.
Very important to check the small details as the knock-off brands I’m sure are almost identical to the real product and I like the idea of buying used as it really does help our planet.
Might have to treat myself to a new/used bag now ….
Hi Louise. Thank you for your comment. I’m sorry about your mom’s passing. I am glad that you’re able to experience the benefits of owning pre-loved designer bags. Aren’t they addictive? Yes, you’re right. It’s important to check the details of a used designer bag, as the creators of the knock-offs have gotten pretty crafty. I do hope you’ll stop by again!
Hi Shalisha. Thanks for your valuable post. I try to keep my lifestyle as sustainable as possible. Like no heating when not too cold, separating waste, riding e-bike, etc. I think, when we see what is happening with our planet, mostly due to the global warming, it is our duty do be more aware of it. And it all starts with ourselves. Therefore, I think it is great to buy re-used products. (I bought my last Iphone and Imac recycled and they work perfectly). I think when I will search for present to my girlfriend I’ll have a closer look once again. Do you know other websites, similar to the one you shared here?
Hi Julius! Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. Yes, it’s great to re-use when you can. The great thing about these bags is that they don’t look used at all. They’re in tip top shape. Perfect for gifts to that special someone.
Shalisha, you have done a fabulous job with your site. You obviously know your product very well! Of course, I have heard of many of the handbag designers you’ve mentioned, I have never personally bought one. New or used, I cannot afford one!
However, my mother could and often did purchase designer bags when she was alive. She was WAY to stuck on the idea that she had to buy new, however. If you were to combine her money and my thriftiness, it would be another whole story!
I completely agree that used is the way to go if you can find a reputable sales place.
The only thing I noticed is that it appears your only mention of being an affiliate marketer is in your About Me page. Make sure that you look up the guidelines on WA and follow them very closely. It’s very important!
Other than that one thing, your post and site look fantastic. Keep up the great work!
Hi Carrie. Thanks so much for your comment. Yes, if you can buy a used designer bag from a reputable source, it will be well worth it. Most pre-owned designer bags from Fashionphile are in mint condition. In fact, I’ve never seen one with a rating below excellent condition. Also, another important point to consider is that you are guaranteed 100% authenticity, or your money back. Please stop by again.
Buying previously owned designer handbags can certainly help the environment in that it is a product that is already in circulation, and therefore can save on the use of virgin materials. And designer handbags are normally very expensive, so you should be able to save yourself quite a lot of money if you can get a second hand designer handbags, specially if it is still in mint condition. Thanks for sharing some awesome bags.
Hi there. Thanks for your comment. I have fallen madly in love with these pre-loved handbags. Most of the bags are in very good to mint condition and you really can’t tell at all that they’re used. I think this a win-win niche. Please stop by again.
